Prayer doesn't change the world.
Prayer changes us,
and we change the world.
Blessed are all who have joined
together to pray, to learn, to do.

This is always the Lamp article that is the hardest for me to write because it means it is the end of the school year. This has been a wonderful year for all of us and it will be hard to say good-by to some of the families who have come to mean so much to all of us.

But first, a few thank you's. No school can run without the support of the leadership and for their support, encouragement and vision, I want to thank Susan Marquith, our temple president and Marion Osterlitz, our school vice president. I also want to thank Carol Garber and the Executive Board for understanding the importance of our school to the Temple community.

Our Temple and our school could not run without Marilyn Altman who is always there to help us and I'd like to thank her and Valentina for their assistance.

George is our gem. He can never do enough for us and his love for the children, parents and teachers is always evident.

Our Rabbi and our Cantor are incredibly unique in their commitment to and involvement in our school. Our children are so fortunate to really know their clergy and look forward to seeing them.

Susan Dutiger is our "go-to" person and all of us often "go to" her at the last minute looking for stickers, or flyers, or notes to go on a project. She does it with a smile and I, personally, don't know what I'd do without her. My teachers. Oh, my teachers. I can never thank them enough for who they are and what they do. The level of dedication, the interest in continued learning, the search for new ideas and the love and devotion they give to each and every child is what makes our school succeed.

This year, also, I've had the privilege of working with Marilyn Fellows in a new capacity. It has been a joy to share ideas for programs and activities with her and I congratulate Marilyn on a fabulous first year as our Temple's Religious School Principal.

Our parent volunteers are such a big part of our Nursery School community. They collect coats and toys and food, they plan programs, they sort Passover candy and collect money for chocolate roses, they plan and execute fund-raising activities and they shower us with a memorable teacher appreciation luncheon each year. Your work is so very appreciated and the example you set for your children is exemplary.

Finally, I thank all the parents. You entrust us with your children, you take our suggestions and our guidance and you work with us as a team to help your children grow. You leave and your children move on to Kindergarten, but you remain in our hearts forever.

We'll see many of you at Camp TBS and we're really excited about the large number of children and great new fun activities we've planned for them.

Have a safe, healthy and enjoyable summer!

TBS Religious School…

It has been an amazing year at TBS Religious School. We have experienced the religious growth and development of our students. I congratulate the teachers on their work this year. Their love of teaching has made an important difference in our children's lives. I am deeply grateful for the fine work they have done and their contribution to a successful year. Together we will continue to build on this success in the upcoming years. We have worked so hard together this year to instill the deep, rich Jewish values in our children.

Let the summer vacation be a time for relaxation and fun, but more importantly a time to reinforce the lessons they learned during the school year.

Have a wonderful summer.

L'hitraot & Shalom,
