TBS Religious School… SHALOM! Last month my mother passed away; she was a
wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. I would like to
thank all those who reached out to me during my time of need. May we
only speak of happiness and simchas. Purim is this month. The holiday celebrates the victory of the Jews over the evil schemer Haman. The whole month of Adar is set aside for joy and celebration. Purim is our "season of fun". On Purim, we boo Haman, cheer Mordechai and Esther, make noise with our *raashanim *(graggers), and celebrate with carnivals. Mark your calendars to join us for our Youth Group's Purim Carnival on Sunday, March 16 and the reading of the Megillah (Book of Esther) and the Purim Shpiel (a 'spoof ' play) on Thursday, March 20 at 7:00 PM. Holiday traditions should be shared by families. Bake hamantashen, prepare *mishloach manot *(gifts of food), donate food to a local food bank, give tzedakah to the needy, hear the Megillah, dress up in costume and use a gragger. *"Make days of feasting and gladness and of sending gifts to one another".* Esther 9:22 As we celebrate Purim and prepare for the approach of *Pesach* (Passover), let's continue to express the joy of our liberation from the tyranny of ancient and contemporary despots through music and practices that have identified these holidays for centuries. May that joy radiate throughout all of us and our families. B'Shalom
